Simply Lux Chocolate Mousse
If you’re looking for a simple chocolate mousse recipe and want to skip the eggs, this is the one for you! You can scale it up or down, but this recipe makes a big bowl of mousse, perfect for a dinner party, Galentine’s, or any celebration. Wait ‘til you see their eyes light up when your guests spot a help-yourself bowl of chocolatey goodness. Trust me, folks are still raving about this from my parties!
In recipes where you’re only using a few ingredients, it’s important to use the best your can for each. Grab a bar of semisweet chocolate and chop it yourself using a serrated knife. It works perfectly and will get your chocolate into easy-melting bits in a flash. The smaller the pieces, the faster it melts.
And be sure to save a bit of your bar and grab a veggie peeler to shave bits to top your mousse. And don’t forget the bowl of whipped cream on the side. Pure heaven!

Simply Luxurious Chocolate Mousse
Ingredients
- 12 ounce(s) semisweet chocolate finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon(s) real vanilla
- 1 pinch(es) salt
- 3 cup(s) heavy cream chilled
- 1/2 cup(s) confectioners sugar
Instructions
- Bring 1 cup of cream to a simmer in a heavy, small saucepan. Remove from the heat.
- Slowly add the chocolate, vanilla, & salt to the hot cream and allow to sit for 5 minutes, or until the chocolate has mostly melted. Stir to be sure all chocolate bits are melted. Transfer mixture to a large bowl. Let cool to room temperature, stirring occasionally.
- Beat remaining 2 cups of heavy cream and confectioners sugar in a large, chilled bowl until mixture holds its shape on a whisk. Fold into the cooled chocolate mixture in 3 additions, being sure no white streaks remain after the final addition of whipped cream. Place in a large serving bowl or individual bowls or jars. Chill until ready to serve. Serve with fresh berries, whipped cream, or shaved chocolate.
